Our Portugal Trip Can’t Come Soon Enough!

By 21st November 2018February 1st, 2021No Comments

Evenings are getting darker, temperatures in the UK are dropping, and there is no doubt that winter is upon us. With the competitive season over and the clubs beginning their hibernation in the garage, this is probably the worst time of year for golfers. Most amateurs are starting to look ahead to next year – maybe trying to find a motivation to keep working on their game over the winter to ensure that they hit the ground running come spring.

A lot of golfers use our events as their focus for some winter practice. Normally our schedule begins with the Links Golf Cup in East Lothian at the end of March – an event that has, for many, become the ‘unofficial start of the golf season’. However, we are back in action a couple of weeks earlier in 2019, when we head to Portugal’s beautiful Silver Coast to kick off our year.

This is our first ever overseas tournament, and we are organising it in association with our friends at Golf Tours International. The destination will be the magnificent Praia D’El Rey Resort, north west of Lisbon – an area home to miles of golden beaches, many hours of sunshine, and some of the best golf courses on the continent.

Demand for the trip was unbelievable and, believe it or not, our original allocation of places sold out within 24 hours of entries opening. With demand so high, we decided to add a second trip in the same week, and we now have 130 golfers booked to come with us for what promises to be a fantastic event – both on and off the course.

When you consider the quality of the courses that we will be playing, it is easy to see why the trip was so popular. Each of our two 54 hole Betterball Stableford competitions will begin at Praia D’El Rey itself – a layout featuring an intriguing mix of holes, with some played in amongst the lush vegetation and some with the dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic coastline. Our hosts for Round 2 is Royal Obidos, the final creation of the legendary Seve Ballesteros. We have lined up a cracker for the final round in West Cliffs, which is a spectacular cliff-top links style track that was awarded the title of ‘World’s Best New Course’ at the World Golf Awards and is currently ranked 2nd best in Portugal by the team at Top 100 Courses.

Its not too late if you would like to come with us, as there is still very limited availability. Email andy@hybridgolf.co.uk to check how many spots we have left and enquire about the various packages available. If you can’t make it on this trip with us, stay tuned as we will have some more great value overseas golf events launching soon.

Enjoy the winter and don’t despair too much – the new golf season will be with us before you know it!
