BRORA

HIGHLANDS

Established in 1891, Brora is a natural and charming links, set in breath-taking surroundings. This James Braid design has a traditional out and back layout, with more than enough character and brilliance to confirm that you definitely made the right choice when deciding to make the journey to play it.

After you have taken in the stunning view from the 1st tee, the first big decision of the day is how the opener should be played. Depending on wind conditions there is the option to go for the green, or the conservative play is to head down the left and give yourself a good angle for your approach to the sloped green.

Brora has a superb collection of par 3s. The 6th is played to an undulating green set between three bunkers, the 9th is pretty and provides the perfect end to the front 9. The 18th is a tough one, and there are no prizes for coming up short with the clubhouse watching.

The electric fences that surround all greens just add to Brora’s uniqueness. You may see sheep and cattle throughout the round but they certainly don’t have any impact on the condition of the course – from start to finish this is golf at its enjoyable best.
