MACHRIHANISH

ARGYLL AND BUTE

Established in 1876, Machrihanish Golf Club is home to one of the world’s most iconic and unaltered links layouts. Crafted by the legendary Old Tom Morris in 1879, the Championship Course is renowned for its opening tee shot which requires a daring drive over the Atlantic beach. This traditional out-and-back links meanders through rugged duneland, blending dramatic landscapes with challenging, subtly compelling holes.

Beyond the course, Machrihanish has a rich heritage and a resilient community spirit. In 2021, a modern clubhouse opened after the loss of its historic predecessor. Whether you are navigating the “Gauntlet” or soaking in views of Jura and the Atlantic, a visit to Machrihanish is a pilgrimage to golf as it was truly intended to be.
