THE ELS CLUB

DUBAI

Ernie’s goal when designing this layout was to combine the best of all the great places that he has played during his illustrious career. The uniquely crafted bunkering of Melbourne, raised plateau greens from Pinehurst No. 2, and undulating fairways commonly found on Scottish coastal courses are all said to have been at the forefront of the two-time Open champion’s thoughts.

Situated as part of the Dubai Sports City development, this is a resort-style course with impressive housing lining many of the holes. There is enough room off the tee to ensure that they don’t impact on your round though.

While the variety of teeing options and generous fairways mean that golfers of all handicaps can enjoy playing this course, there are some instances where accuracy is required. One such hole is the 15th – with water running all the way along the right hand side your tee shot and approach must be straight, and the run-off areas around this raised green will test your short game.

Since opening in 2008, the Els Club has received several accolades and not just for the golf course. The practice facilities – often used by Tour players to fine tune their game – are second to none, and the impressive clubhouse provides the perfect place to relax and unwind after completing 18 holes.
