TRUMP INTERNATIONAL

DUBAI

This first-class Gil Hanse design opened for play in 2017 and quickly earned a place as one of Dubai’s highest ranked golf courses. Hanse was also responsible for Castle Stuart and the Olympic Course in Rio, and some clever features of those outstanding creations can be found here.

The rolling fairways, inspired by the natural contours of the desert, have plenty of bounce in them meaning tee shots can often end up going further than anticipated, particularly down breeze. This characteristic also allows lower chasing shots to be played into several greens, in a similar way you would perhaps attempt a bump and run on a firm Scottish links, when the wind is into you.

Some notable holes to look out for include the relatively short par 4 8th, which is played to a raised putting surface well protected with links-style run-off areas and bunkers, and the dogleg to the left 13th, with its feature island green surrounded by sand. In both cases a par is a welcome return.

As you come to expect in Dubai, the off-course offering at Trump International is fantastic. The driving range is fitted with state-of-the-art TrackMan technology, and the huge clubhouse features a luxury pool, fitness centre, restaurant and lounge. Make sure you arrive in plenty of time to experience a day of Arabian golf at its finest.
