Following our first visit in 2022, we will be heading back to the beautiful Northumberland coastline in summer 2026 for a 3-day Pairs competition featuring three excellent courses that all golfers should experience at least once in their lifetime.

The event features the picturesque links of Dunstanburgh Castle, as well as Bamburgh Castle – with incredible sea views to enjoy throughout the round. Our third venue is the superb Goswick Links, which is quite rightly regarded as one of the best coastal courses in England.

THE EVENT

DUNSTANBURGH CASTLE

The James Braid-designed Dunstanburgh Castle is a gem of a course that is so enjoyable to play. The opening holes offer elevation changes, blind shots, testing green complexes, and thought-provoking doglegs. The castle ruins feature prominently whilst taking on the back 9, adding a historical backdrop to what is always a fun golfing challenge.

BAMBURGH CASTLE

It is a case of another day, another castle course, as we move a few miles up the coast for Round 2 at Bamburgh. Many who play here describe it as quirky and unique, and it is hard to argue – it opens up with back-to-back par 3s, and you have to wait until the 5th for a par 4. The undulating hillside terrain offers jaw-dropping views of some beautiful sandy beaches.

GOSWICK LINKS

Our final round venue is Goswick Links – a layout with a great pedigree that is often underrated. Having hosted Open Qualifying, there should be no doubt about the challenge, but at the same time, there are several birdies to be made. Situated in the dunes just a couple of miles from the A1, the course plays as two loops of nine from the centrally located clubhouse.

The Rules

> All competitors will play in pairs at each of the three courses during the competition.
> The event is a 54 hole Betterball Stableford competition, and the pair with the highest score after the three rounds will be declared the winner.
> Prizes will be presented following Round 3 – any prize winners not in attendance must contact the organisers to claim their prize, and will be liable for any costs incurred in sending their prize to them.
> As well as prizes for overall scores, there will also be prizes available each day.
> The event organisers reserve the right to amend the format of the competition should the number of entrants or weather conditions dictate.
> All entrants must be amateurs and members of recognised golf clubs, and hold an active or competitive handicap.
> Overseas entrants must provide proof of their exact handicap.
> CDH numbers or handicap certificates must be provided before the start of the event.
> Entrants must be over the age of 18 on the date of the first round.
> Maximum handicap allowance is 24 for men and 36 for ladies – 85% handicap allowance is given.
> A draw will be produced for each days play, and the event will be played in 4 balls.
> Should any entrants wish to withdraw from the event, a full refund (less any charges incurred) will be guaranteed up until 2 months before the start date of the event. Withdrawals after this date will receive 50% of their entry fee, unless a replacement can be found.

ACCOMMODATION PACKAGES

We have teamed up with a few local hotels to offer our Links Cup Pairs Northumberland competitors discounted room rates when staying in the area for the event. These preferential rates are only available when booking through Hybrid Golf, the event organisers, and not directly with the hotels themselves.

Lindisfarne Inn, Berwick-upon-Tweed

The award-winning Lindisfarne Inn is a traditional country pub with rooms situated near Holy Island and just a 10 minute drive from Goswick Links. With 23 comfortable bedrooms adjacent to the main inn, the Lindisfarne offers excellent value for money and a friendly welcome.

Bamburgh Castle Inn, Seahouses

With its seaside location, just 400 yards from the beach, Bamburgh Castle Inn is the perfect place to eat, drink, sleep and explore Northumberland from. This traditional and charming harbour pub boasts 46 well-equipped rooms, all of which have excellent en-suite facilities.
