The Event

Monday 4th October
Western Gailes

Our event gets underway at Western Gailes – a must play for all fans of true links golf. The course is set on a narrow strip of land between the railway line and the coast, and offers great views across the Firth of Clyde. Highly regarded by all who have played here, Western Gailes will ensure that our week gets off to the best possible start.

Tuesday 5th October
Dundonald Links

Despite its relatively short history, our Round 2 venue Dundonald Links has already staged many important events – including the 2017 Scottish Open and Ladies Scottish Open. Situated on the opposite side of the railway from Western Gailes, Dundonald will provide a different test with some undulating greens and tricky par 4s.

Wednesday 6th October
Rest Day

Our competitors have the chance to play another of the many fantastic courses that Ayrshire has to offer. There are many options – from Prestwick, venue of the first ever Open Championship, to the numerous excellent municipal courses, or perhaps it might be an idea to catch the ferry to Arran to play the fun 12 hole layout at Shiskine.

Thursday 7th October
King Robert The Bruce at Turnberry

With Arran and Ailsa Craig providing the backdrop, the newly remodelled King Robert The Bruce course is already earning great reviews. Named after the King of Scotland who was born in Turnberry Castle and who triumphed at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, the course features clever bunkering and beautiful swathes of gorse.

Friday 8th October
Ailsa at Turnberry

Having staged the Open on numerous occasions, most famously for ‘The Dual in the Sun’ between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson in 1977, the iconic Ailsa course at Turnberry needs no introduction. After the final putt has been holed, we head off for our presentation dinner with the chance to enjoy some great food, a few drinks, and to congratulate the winners.
