Kilmarnock Brassie
Ayrshire

Whilst perhaps not one of the most well-known courses on Scotland’s west coast, Kilmarnock Barassie is certainly not one to miss on any golf tour of Ayrshire. It offers a mix of the old and the new, and features everything that you would expect from a Scottish links – undulating fairways, testing greens, and of course, a very friendly welcome in the clubhouse.

The course isn’t easy, and all visitors need to play some solid golf to play to their handicap. It gets off to a gentle start, with a fairly straightforward par 5 allowing you to get some early points on the card, but then the fun starts with the rather tricky 2nd where a couple of good shots are required to find the green in two.

The long straight 11th is an impressive hole, and rated by many as the best on the course. Both length and accuracy are needed to hit the long, narrow green in regulation, and it’s two distinct tiers mean you still have plenty of work to do when the putter comes out of the bag.

Barassie is set on wonderful coastal terrain that is ready made for links golf, and it has been crafted with an undeniable charm.
